The Scottish Traditional Boat Festival took over responsibility for the restoration of the Salmon Bothy in 2006.

The Festival is a registered charity and, on completion of the restoration, will be responsible for the management of the Bothy.

It will also undertake the range of outreach activities which will take place in and around the Bothy itself.

We are looking for volunteers to join a team who will work in a rota to welcome visitors to the Bothy and its exhibition area. The team will be given training in tourism and ancestral research. If you enjoy meeting people and promoting the town and its history and are interested in joining the team, please contact Robin Maddock on 01261 843498

The downstairs floor will include an exhibition about Portsoy with sections on the harbour, the town's history and the salmon fishing industry. If you have information, items or pictures which might be available for us to include, please contact Alison Simpson on 01542 841063 or Roger Goodyear on 01261 842894.

Our target date for opening the Salmon Bothy is June 21st this year: the weekend of the 15th Scottish Traditional Boat Festival.
