Following negotiations with the previous trust and
Aberdeenshire Council, it has been agreed that the Scottish Traditional
Boat Festival will take over the project to restore the superb Salmon
Bothy at the west end of the links at Portsoy.Work has already started
on raising the significant funds required to bring the building up to a
state where it can be used.
Initial plans for its use include on the ground floor, an exhibition of
the salmon fishery artefacts. The first floor will provide a home for the
development of the cultural projects already initiated including
traditional music and the visual arts.
Outside in the summer months the ground will provide an area for the
boat building project.
Importantly the Salmon Bothy will also provide a permanent headquarters
for the Festival.
